The Québec Construction Code sets minimum requirements for where outlets go and how far apart they are, and these vary by room. That minimum is a starting point, not a goal.
In practice, plan more outlets in the kitchen (counters, appliances), the office and living room (electronics), and near the beds in bedrooms. Also think about USB outlets and outdoor outlets.
Planning your outlets before a renovation costs far less than adding them afterwards. An electrician can advise you based on your floor plan.
